The love of God

Posted by ver0n1c4 at 04:18 AM on July 10, 2007.

The love of God is greater far
Than tongue or pen can ever tell;
It goes beyond the highest star,
And reaches to the lowest hell;
The guilty pair, bowed down with care,
God gave His Son to win;
His erring child He reconciled,
And pardoned from his sin.

O love of God, how rich and pure!
How measureless and strong!
It shall forevermore endure
The saints’ and angels’ song.

When years of time shall pass away,
And earthly thrones and kingdoms fall,
When men, who here refuse to pray,
On rocks and hills and mountains call,
God’s love so sure, shall still endure,
All measureless and strong;
Redeeming grace to Adam’s race—
The saints’ and angels’ song.

Could we with ink the ocean fill,
And were the skies of parchment made,
Were every stalk on earth a quill,
And every man a scribe by trade,
To write the love of God above,
Would drain the ocean dry.
Nor could the scroll contain the whole,
Though stretched from sky to sky.

lunch talk

Posted by ver0n1c4 at 07:13 AM on July 11, 2007.

Just finished lunch with usual lunch talk... this share goes up... should buy this... should buy that... then a simple question... how many lots do u buy??? ironically, no money to buy -____- and all the talk is in that foreign language that I don't understand... :@:@:@

just like everyone else.. we're eager to get richer and richer in this tiny little land... few weeks ago I came to know that this year, the min amount we need to maintain in our CPF account is S$97600. And it's increasing every July... Otherwise, we can't take our money even we've reached the age of retirement... I'm not complaining... not anymore... live with it =P

Anyway maybe the grass here is greener than other side... as far as I know... Indo also have things called "Dana Pensiun"... and some bigger countries impose higher percentage of income tax... then everywhere also have this thing called TV tax haha... no free lunch... really ^.^

news: all buns at Bread Talk are at S$1 until this Sunday. Carrefour still absorbs 2% extra GST. anything else?

 Eta. [f/m]
[Still a taboo word today, even though a sizeable group of Seattle "garbage-scanavgers/information-traders" have taken to calling themselves, the Burakumin. Both this word and Eta (which is simply another way of saying it) are likely to make liberal-minded Japanese listeners squirm.] --R³

[Gaikokujin means, "person from outside the country." It is considered more polite way of saying "foreigner" (as opposed to i-jin, which literally means "alien." Jingai is a play on gaijin with its syllables reversed, which sounds 'cool' & foreigners don't understand it.] --R³

Friday the 13th

Posted by ver0n1c4 at 05:52 AM on July 13, 2007.

Now I know why every year has at least 1 Friday 13th. Old maths problem... haha

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Friday_the_13th

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Any month that begins on a Sunday will contain a Friday the 13th.

Every year has at least one and at most three Fridays the 13th, with 48 occurrences in 28 years an average of 1.7 times per year. The reason this is this evidence: twenty-eight years have 336 months and 336 also equals seven times forty-eight.

The Gregorian Calendar 400-year cycle contains 146,097 days. Along with the 146,000 normal days, there are ninety-seven February 29s (also called "Leap Year Days". The easiest way to explain how and why the Gregorian Calendar rotates during any 400-year cycle is that there are 365 days every year. Ninety-seven of the 400 years are leap years, which have 366 days. Years with 365 days have 52 weeks, with one additional day; years with 366 days have 52 weeks, with two additional days. Adding the "additional days" over the 400-year period results in 497 total "additional days". These 497 days total exactly seventy-one weeks. Thus, the total number weeks in the Gregorian Calendar cycle is 20,871. Because of this, no chosen day of the month up to the 28th can occur the same number of times on each day of the week. The 13th day of the month is slightly more likely to be on a Friday than on any other day of the week.[8] The theoretical chance of a Friday the 13th is once every 212.9 Days, (1/7) * (12/365). This is the probability of a Friday * the probability of a 13th of the month. The actual occurrence (48 in 28 years) works out at exactly that chance (i.e. once every 212.9 Days).

The distribution of the 13th day of the 4,800 months is as follows:

Day of the weekNumber of occurrences
Sunday687
Monday685
Tuesday685
Wednesday687
Thursday684
Friday688
Saturday684

There are 4,800 months in 400 years, so the 13th of the month occurs 4,800 times in this interval. The number of times the 13th occurs on each weekday is given in the table below. As shown by Brown (1933), the thirteenth of the month is slightly more likely to be on a Friday than on any other day.

On average, there are 1.72 Friday the 13ths per calendar year.

Harry Potter and Order of Phoenix

Posted by ver0n1c4 at 04:22 PM on July 15, 2007.

Just watched this movie this evening... love it Love it LOVE it.... Harry and the twins are handsome. Hermione, Ginny, Luna, and TONKS are beautiful.. I really llike Nymphadora Tonks. She's so cool. I wish I could have her ability as an auror. Can change her hair and appearance anytime she wants... So I can have my hair curly, straight, coloured, etc...

 When reading the book, I was bored because in this book, Harry is really being a teenager... he acts as emotional as a teenager could be... But I love the movie. Though it cuts quite a lot but I feel they give enough details for me to enjoy... Of course I'm still so sad when Sirius Black was killed... He's supposed to be the most handsome and one of the most brilliant wizards. So it's a pity that he died. And of course I really hate that Bellatrix Lestrange... And Lucious Malfoy... and timid Peter Pettigrew!!!

Overall I enjoyed the movie though we got the front row seat. Can't wait to read the seventh book. Anyone pre-ordered the book =P?

me in the future

Posted by ver0n1c4 at 05:54 PM on July 22, 2007.

So, I wrote in my Friendster that I want to meet "me in 10 years time". And it happened that when I was having lunch at Wisma Atria yesterday, I saw this booth which allows us to take a picture and using a software called "April", they will generate us 2 kinds of pics. Both are us in the age of 65-66 years. One is if we are smoker, the other is the non-smoker one. Well not exactly 10 years, but I guess I know how I will look like when I am 65 =P

Anyway, 10 mins from now it will be the convocation week for NTU students. So congratulations, pals! For all the hard work in 4 years. God bless you and keep you strong in your next phase of this thing called life. All the best =D

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Posted by ver0n1c4 at 05:38 PM on July 23, 2007.

It's out!!! For 2 days already!!! I have read the whole first chapter and the summary in Wikipedia (not in detail though). But I'm stil looking forward to read this very book. A friend said that Bellatrix will be killed in a very exciting fight... Good to hear that... Some good characters are dead... My favorite will be dead also T_T

Sighzzz Harry Potter finally came to its end. I'm a fan of Harry Potter. Not a big one, though. But I must say this one is really a masterpiece. I'm a little sad to know that JK Rowling won't continue with Hogwarts University or whatever (rising of Voldemort?) Sooooo.... farewell to Harry Potter ^.^ I'll miss Expecto Patronus, Avada Kedavra, Cruciatus, and most importantly.... Sirius Black!!! Hiks hiks hiks

-btw adel mo telp pake gratisan mana nehhhhh-

Today is so beautiful. After a lot of sleep yesterday, I woke up with a fresh mind and body hohoho... Looking at my calendar, this week seems exciting! Yay, let's enjoy this fine day. We got so few of them. That's what Mary Alice said =P
