Gossip Girl, Barcelona pics, and Valborg
Posted by ver0n1c4 at 09:51 AM on May 1, 2008.
Watched GOSSIP GIRL episode 8 this morning. I like this couple (Chuck and Blair):
Blair: (sighs) You nauseate me.
Chuck: All this talk about how you have to be with Nate or the world will end. Face it, it's over.
Blair: You sound like a jealous boyfriend.
Chuck: Yeah, right. You wish.
Blair: (scoffs) No. You wish.
Chuck: Please. You forget who you're talking to...
Blair: So do you. Do you like me?
Chuck: (after a pause) Define like.
Blair: Oh. You have got to be kidding. I do not believe this.
Chuck: How do you think I feel? I haven't slept. I feel sick, like there's something in my stomach... fluttering.
Blair: Butterflies? Oh, no, no, no, no. This is not happening.
Chuck: Believe me, no one is more surprised, or ashamed than I am.
Blair: Chuck, you know that I adore all of God's creatures and the metaphors that they inspire. But, these butterflies? Got to be murdered.
Chuck: Fine... it wasn't that great, anyway.
Blair: Thanks.
By the way, yesterday was Valborg. Here is the explanation of what it is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walpurgis_Night. Barcelona and Valborg pics are uploaded.

cycling
Posted by ver0n1c4 at 06:25 PM on May 4, 2008.
after around 7 weeks in stockholm, I learn something useful! cycling that is. it started with an idea to go around the city by bicycle. but I can't ride a bicycle! so I had some friends to learn me how to cycle this weekend.
we bought 3-day-ticket to rent a bike from Stockholm City Bike. the rules go like this. we can get a bike at any station all over the city and need to return it back to any station within 3 hours. after that we can get a new bike for another 3 hours. so I practiced at a small lawn at Djurgården (salah spelling ga ya). and once a while my friends gave some helps, advices, and word of encouragements =P
it took 2 days (around 4-5 hours per day) for me to finally get both of my feet on the pedal and cycling as long as possible =P well definitely I need to learn lots of things like how to cycle when there is a bump or ditch, how to go uphill when cycling, and many more. anyway it is a good exercise. and I feel happy.
now I need to get some rest. I am really grateful for this one fine weekend. the weather is perfect too. the island is beautiful. Arigatou Gozaimasu.

p.s. btw I am chatting with McFlirty now. She told me that both McGroovy and her have passed Kairos course. Arghhhhh I have attended this course twice and still not be able to get the certificate (I had McGroovy laughed on me too two days ago). Anyway I am happy they could pass the course. Do consider to take the course if you haven't. No regret.

precious moment
Posted by ver0n1c4 at 12:25 AM on May 8, 2008.
Having my days numbered doesn't feel good at all. Yes, I am talking about my days here in Stockholm. It has been two pleasant months so far. I have the privilege not to think about anything except work. I can enjoy myself here. I make a bunch of good friends. And it seems that I have less planning in my life. I even feel that maybe this is what honeymoon should be. Worried about almost nothing =P
As much as I like it to be here, I fully realize that it is almost time to go home. Back to reality, I guess. When I think about it, it suddenly hits me that maybe I will never step my feet on this land again. Or even if I will, I will not have such a fabulous time like now. Well maybe for the very first time I understand what Kairos really means. There wouldn't be another chance where I could meet and work with same group of people. How I want to capture every moment we laughed and teased each other.
Yesterday evening I took a walk home from the office. I usually walk along the train station and take bus from there. But since the bus wouldn't come in 20 minutes, I decided to take longer walk. I was amazed by the fact that spring is really here, in front of my eyes. I can see the very beautiful Grona Lund and Djurgarden. As far as my eyes could see, greeneries are everywhere. The usual me would be busy taking pictures but yesterday I could do nothing but stand in awe of the beauty of this land.
People have been asking me whether I miss Singapore or not. I told them that I don't do homesick. I really want to enjoy my stay here so that when the time to go back to Singapore really comes, I will have no regret because I have embraced the beauty of the city and keep it in my heart =)

-having dinner at Koh Phangan-
Waktu terasa semakin berlalu
Tinggalkan cerita tentang kita
Akan tiada lagi kini tawamu
Tuk hapuskan semua sepi di hati
Ada cerita tentang aku dan dia
Dan kita bersama saat dulu kala
Ada cerita tentang masa yang indah
Saat kita berduka saat kita tertawa
Teringat di saat kita tertawa bersama
Ceritakan semua tentang kita

Stockholm week 8
Posted by ver0n1c4 at 10:27 PM on May 11, 2008.
this has been a happening week. we had lots of plan. some of them were screwed up =P but the last minutes ones were great. it started with cycling plan on Wednesday. We planned to go out from office on 4pm. For some reasons everyone got so busy and we can only leave office at 5.30pm. And the SL center opens until 6.30pm. And the last time we can rent a bike is 6pm. So we need to change the plan. We quickly decided to go to Gröna Lund (Green Grove). To cut the story short, just when everyone was so excited and ready to set off, we found out that Gröna Lund was close on that day (hahaha). So in the end we just had dinner in a Thai Restaurant Koh Phangan. We had a good dinner and good laugh. From there I went to Pat2's apartment until around 11.30pm. And when I went home I saw lots of youngsters on the subway. They were singing the yell of their fave football club (Hammarby or something like that). Apparently the football match has just finished and the supporters were going home.
On Saturday I joined my friend to their summer house at one of the island here (Tynningö or something like that). So this is what Swedish do during summer (or anytime they could). Going to summer house or country side or anywhere else as long as it is away from city. Very different from Asian, right =P We spent the whole day there playing with the dog (the dog's name means fairy tale), gardening, cutting the grass, eating ice cream at Vaxholms (another island nearby), preparing dinner, and having some desserts. I did lots of things for the first time (touching and playing with the dog, gardening, using shovel, spade or whatever it is, and preparing real dinner =P). Hmmm do u think I will do it for the second or even third time? I doubt it hahaha...
On Sunday, I planned to do some shopping and bought some stuff for friends in Singapore... yes... you! =P. However Linda asked me to join their family for picnic. And Anto told me that there was going to be a talk at Indonesian embassy (which means there would be Indonesian food as well!) So I dropped all my initial plans and join them. The talk was by Mr. Dorodjatun. He used to be the Minister of Monetary during Megawati era. The talk was good (and so was the dinner). He talked about situation in Indonesia which I never knew before. It was like an eye opener for me. He also encouraged us, the younger generation, to do something for the country. The problem with Indonesian is, we really like to chat (ngerumpi, ngobrol, kongkow). We need to stop and start learning instead haha. After that I was so tired. I was supposed to meet Linda again to watch a live performance but I told her I need some rest or else I will be very sleepy tomorrow.
I had lots more to write but I will do it next time. Maybe it's time to write more serious stuff rather than just talking about my daily life here. Let's hope I am not too lazy to do so. Good night everyone. Pics are uploaded at the usual link.

ex colleague and new friend
Posted by ver0n1c4 at 06:55 PM on May 18, 2008.
I have one ex colleague who lives in Helsinki, Finland. Her name is Anna. Ever since I heard about the plan to go to Stockholm I always wanted to meet her since it is very near. But it is too expensive to get there by plane and I can't afford to apply leave to go there by boat since I am on training almost everyday. But then she surprised me last Friday by saying that she would be coming to Stockholm by boat and we can meet for a few hours on Saturday!
So we managed to meet up at Sergelstorg. Thanks to some friends who guided me beforehand on how to go there =P. We had lunch in one of the restaurant nearby and updated each other. We found it amazing that when she left Singapore last December, who would think that we could meet up again here in Stockholm? I mean, of all places in the world, we meet again in Stockholm! And you know that I wouldn't even think to visit Scandinavian countries before. It was really really good to see her again. We talked about her coming-soon-baby-girl, news about our office, and how different it is to live in Singapore and here. Oh we also talked about the fact that both Finland and Sweden ice hockey team lost in semifinal. So they would meet to fight over the third place. I wonder who wins in the end =P I need to check after this. It was sad that she needed to catch her boat back to Finland at 5pm. But it is better that nothing, isn't it? I do hope that we could see each other again someday... maybe in another part of the world =P.

Another thing I want to write is about a new friend I found here in Stockholm, Lia. We met during an Indonesian fellowship a couple of weeks ago. I was supposed to go there again yesterday but I couldn't since Anna and her husband came yesterday. Anyway this week has been very cold. Even when I walked to the church and met Pat on the way, both of us were complaining a lot about the weather. She was even sneezing a couple of times. However, after the service Lia approached me and gave a nice candle for me because she knows that I am going back to Singapore soon. I was really surprised and touched at the same time. I only know her for less than a month and yet she is so thoughtful to me. Well, thank God for her because I think I almost forgot how warm a fellowship could be. And as I walked back to train station, I didn't feel cold anymore, maybe because I feel warm inside *caelahhhh* ^.^

ku akan pulang
Posted by ver0n1c4 at 09:06 PM on May 21, 2008.
